Mental Health Matters

Mental health matters and it is something that people should talk about more openly. For as long
as I can remember, mental health has been a taboo subject. Many people were afraid to speak
about it because of shame, fear, and stigma. But in the present day, in 2026, more people are
starting to talk about mental health, and that is an amazing accomplishment. The more we talk
about it, the more the stigma can come to an end.
I did not find out until I was 47 years old that there was something wrong with me. For many
years, I did not understand what I was going through. Finding out later in life can be painful, lots
of anger, and emotional resentment, but it can also bring answers. It can help a person
understand themselves better and realise that they were never simply “broken”.
Mental health is not nothing, and it is not something that anyone should be ashamed of. It is
real, and it affects many people in different ways. The reason there is still so much stigma is
because many people do not want to talk about it. Silence keeps people suffering in private.
Speaking openly can help others feel less alone and more understood. Mental Health is the
same as our physical health.
Nobody is alone, even when it feels that way. There are people you can reach out to today, and
there are resources that can help. It is important to take advantage of the support that is
available, whether it comes from family, friends, professionals, or support groups.
You have a beautiful life to live, and it is ok not to be ok. What matters is reaching out and
knowing that help is there. Mental health matters because every person matters, and no one
should suffer alone
